Your Visit

Fair play, California

When you arrive at BFL you'll have loads to see and do.  To begin with, touring the wine country of the nearby Shenandoah Valley is a must, with Cooper Vineyards one of our favorites.

The Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth hosts events like the Mother Lode Highlands games (bring your kilt) and several rodeos.  In Placerville, the El Dorado County Fairgrounds also has its own slate of events with horse shows, microbrew contests and the El Dorado County Fair unfolding throughout the summer.  Next door to each other, the Placerville Speedway hosts dirt-track racing while the El Dorado County Railroad & Museum has plenty for railroad fans and history buffs.

If you want to know more about early mining, the Gold Bug Mine in Placerville is a great place to start.  Then there is the big daddy of them all in Coloma - the Marshall Gold Discovery Site State Historical Park which is where the Gold Rush began.
